Chiropractic at Airlie Complementary Clinic.

The human nervous system is responsible for controlling body function. Chiropractors deal with the structural relationship between the nerve tissues and the spinal column which houses and protects those tissues.

The spinal column is composed of 24 movable vertebrae, sacrum and coccyx and is designed for flexibility, strength and protection. As long as the vertebrae of the spine remain in normal alignment these functions are fulfilled. However vertebral misalignments do occur, (Possible causes of which are lifting, falls, accidents, childbirth, sports injuries, stress and poor posture etc.) and can cause interference to and impingement on the nerves emanating between the vertebrae causing subsequent nerve dysfunction.

McTIMONEY CHIROPRACTIC is a gentle method devised to safely restore a patients total structural integrity. Serious misalignment will often cause the body to compensate with subsequent minor adaptations and this is one of the main reasons why the whole body is assessed at each treatment. McTimoney Chiropractors check and subtly adjust bones of the skull, thorax, spine, pelvis and limbs relieving misalignments throughout the whole structure. The aim of the treatment is to remove any interference with the body's nerve supply.

Patients report a wide range of improvements ranging from relief of migraines, neck and shoulder problems to low back pain, sciatica and menstrual problems.

When a body is functioning perfectly there is complete freedom from dis-ease of any form. During a course of treatment most patients feel some physical changes in their structure as the skeleton is realigned to remove interference with the nerve fibres. These changes can include temporary increase in discomfort, stiffness, tiredness and more often a feeling of well being and heightened energy levels.

The number of visits required will vary from patient to patient depending on the condition, its severity and the patients response to treatment.

Chiropractic is also a preventative therapy and when used in this way greatly improves health and well being.
